While talking to JoBlo.com on the set of his latest film SERENITY (the feature adaptation of TV series "Firefly&quot<img src=https://www.mundodvd.com/forum/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> , writer/director Joss Whedon expressed interest in taking over the reigns of the X-MEN franchise now that Bryan Singer has moved on to SUPERMAN (and subsequently been booted off the Fox lot). Whedon wanting to direct X3 isn't breaking news but Whedon actually directing X3 is. CHUD is reporting that industry publication Production Weekly states Whedon will direct X-MEN 3 with filming set to begin next June in Vancouver. For those unaware of what Production Weekly is, it's a subscription based web, e-mail or fax listing of all the latest breakdowns of production data. Usually they're very, very reliable and often times beat the trades to a story by a day or so. But so far, there has been no other confirmation to this news other than what CHUD is reporting Production Weekly has printed. We'll send out some feelers today and hopefully have some type of confirmation later in the day. Stay tuned for updates... Meanwhile, what are your thoughts on Whedon taking over the X-MEN franchise?...

What can one say about Dan Harris. Harris says "We were going to do X-Men 3 for a little while and our big secret or coup was - and it's not going to happen so it's OK - we wanted to have a character that was Emma Frost, a famous X-Men character. She's called the white queen. We were going to ask Sigourney to be it. She was an empath in our version of the movie which means she could control people's emotions...[She] could look at someone and make them cry on cue or hate you or be lonely".

Let's see if I can keep this complicated world of superhero films straight. Bryan Singer left Fox and X-MEN 3 to instead direct SUPERMAN for Warner Bros. He brought with him writers Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty who turned X2 into one of the best comic adaptations of all time. So the jilted Fox, none to happy with Singer's abrupt departure, has moved on without him. Today comes word that they've hired a more Fox-happy writer Simon Kinberg. Kinberg has worked on Fox superhero flicks like ELEKTRA and FANTASTIC FOUR as well as the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie actioner MR. AND MRS. SMITH. Of the gig, Kinberg said, "I'm a religious reader of the comics, and I loved the first two movies...I had a great experience with Fox and Marvel on the other projects, and when they came to me and asked me if I had any interest in X3, I was ecstatic. I grew up on them, and I love these comics, and it's exciting to take a whack at making the third the biggest and best in the trilogy; it's our RETURN OF THE KING." Comparing X3 to ROTK? That's a ballsy statement- but one I'm hoping the man can deliver on. Early word on his FANTASTIC script was that it was a vast improvement on the existing drafts but not quite 100%. Though so far his SMITH movie looks superb so we'll keep our fingers crossed. Fox is now looking to find a director to replace Singer so they can keep their targeted production date of summer 2005.<hr></blockquote>

Famke Janssen has been out doing the "Eulogy" promotional rounds and of course, talk of the third "X-Men" came up:

Will she be back? "I might. It depends. It depends on many different things, who the director would be. I love the first two X-Mens because I thought that Bryan Singer did such a great job".

Will she come back as Dark Phoenix? "Bryan really wanted to follow that storyline because it’s one of the biggest storylines in the X-Men comic books. So it would have been great for me if that had happened and that scenario. I’m not sure what they’re going to do. I know Dark Phoenix is a huge part of the X-Men saga, so I’m assuming they’re at least going to want to touch on it, but I don't know and I don't know whether I would want to be involved. That depends on many different things".

Ultimate X3 has a rather interesting update on the proposed "X3" and "Wolverine" films. First up, a representative from 20th Century Fox has released the following statement which talks about the directorial position on the project:

"As you may already know, the studio has hired a great writer by the name of Simon Kinberg to pen the script. As with most films, expect the script to go through possible re-writes, especially as soon as the studio signs a director. Regarding that, we are working VERY hard to find the perfect director to do X3. The studio has it narrowed down to a few good men, and talks are being held often between both parties.

Two of these three men have worked with Fox Studios before, and have been suggested by not only the head of the studio, but executive producer, Avi Arad. It's getting quite close, and a final decision should be made shortly after final presentations are made to the studio. Cast members (besides a few) are not signed as of yet, but deals will be made beginning in 2005"

There's going to be an increase in hair transplants this week, because "Buffy" fans will have pulled their's all out by weeks end!

Hot on the heels of news that we're about lose Eliza Dushku's series from screens, comes the biggest blow of all : Joss Whedon isn't going to be doing "X-Men 3", as previously rumoured.

One of my favourite spots for anything Jossverse, Whedonverse, attended the Kerry campaign and noted that : "Well it's over and the big news is that Joss will not be directing X-Men 3 but he's working on a new screen play which is not based on anything he has done before."

But there's a ray of hope : Whedon is still keen to do a "Faith" spin-off. In fact, says Aint it Cool, he's "salivating" to do it. Eliza, get on the phone now and call the man. We're in desperate need of a Mr Pointy reappearance!<hr></blockquote>

No hay ningún spoiler, Hack, simplemente dice que Whedon no dirigirá ni escribirá X-Men 3 y que ahora que han cancelado "Tru Calling" cabría la posibilidad de un spin off de Faith con Eliza Duhsku.

Se han llegado a rodar 6 capítulos de la segunda temporada que no se van a emitir y supongo que sacarán en dvd.

Whedon fuera de XMEN 3. Y es el mejor de los directores posibles para hacerla y escribirla.

¿En la 3ª de Angel? Qué suerte. Aún te quedan por ver la 4ª (para mi la mejor de todas) y la 5ª (tan divertida y profunda, genial). Qué envidia. Ojalá pudiera revivir la sensación de verlas por primera vez.

The Sydney Star Observer had a chat with Michael Ryan, the guy who whips Hugh Jackman into shape whenever he's had a few too many four'n'twenty's, and the fitness fella hinted that "X-Men 3" might film in Sydney.

It isn't stated, but obviously Fox Studios is where Wolverine, Rogue, Cyclops and company would be camped if it comes off. Funnily enough, the franchise's biological daddy, Bryan Singer, is filming "Superman" there next week. He's not supposed to be having anything to do with "X-Men 3" though.

Xmenfilms.net has talked to a Fox rep about the forthcoming sequel - rumoured to be filming in Sydney - who says Storm is still being written into the tale. They're covering their bases though - just in case the "Catwoman" star decides to give the project the middle finger.

"The role is being written with the idea that it can easily be switched out for another character under the circumstances that actress, Halle Berry cannot return", says the site. "Should the actress return, the role will likely be expanded to that equal of the other main cast members, in future drafts of the screenplay. It is also possible that the role could possibly remain small for a cameo appearance. Or could the role be recast? This is still being worked out, and won't conjeal until main cast members are asked to return".

Seems FOX are pretty keen on milking this franchise for all it's worth too. On top of the news that both a "Wolverine" and "Magneto" spin-off are in the works comes a rumour from the site that Mystique (played by Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) and Storm (played by the aforesaid Berry) might be about to spin-off.<hr></blockquote>

Debo ser más raro que un perro verde,

primero, me gusta mucho más X-men que X-men 2.

Cuarto, mi personaje favorito es Tormenta. En la primera película le colocan un pelucón, y vuela poco. En la segunda sale genial, pero ya ni vuela ni na.

Y ahora igual ni aparece en X-men 3.

Desde que vi la tercera parte de Matrix, y el enfrentamiento final entre Neo y el Agente, me pregunto, ¿por qué no veremos nunca así a los X-men?

¡Coño, si hasta me lo he preguntado al ver Los Increibles!

Vale que en los comics haya mucho "pensamiento trascendental" y tal y tal, pero...
