Pongo el último mensaje de Harris que, por decirlo suavemente, me llega a parecer hasta ciertamente surrealista cuando puso a parir El Padrino, y marco en negrita las partes del mensaje que me han parecido más llamativas. No tiene desperdicio. HTF se está cubriendo de gloria con las remasterizaciones de las películas de Cameron. Espero que les vaya a merecer la pena.
And yet…
This is precisely what the filmmakers desire the film to be seen in 4k. As I’ve said, the release is a bit of a balancing act.
Long shots pick up measurable detail and overall resolution, while close-ups appear a bit overly processed, and far more detailed than necessary.
This is all duly noted and examined one foot or less from the screen.
And yet…
View the 4k from that NSD and all appears well.
I find it to be an interesting experiment, that taken 10% further could be a failure in my eyes.
This is not a film that begins to fall apart with grain removal as many do. The image remains cohesive.
This band of brothers that pray at the shrine of original grain can survive these occasional incursions.
What we’re seeing here is not created by error or unprofessionalism. I believe it to be a purposeful experiment by the filmmakers in an attempt to get closer to the film as it could not be created way back in the analogue world.
Go a bit further, and cross that line that returns us to the world of Patton, Gangs of New York, and The Longest Day, and that will push things over the edge for me.
