Saint ["Because of Winn-Dixie"] joins Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Sam Huntington and Hugh Laurie for Bryan Singer's blockbuster.

Eva Marie Saint, Hitchcock's bottle blond beauty in the ultimate thriller classic "North by Northwest", made headlines last week when it was revealed she would be playing Martha Kent, mother of Clark Kent in the upcoming "Superman" movie about to begin shooting in Australia under the helm of Bryan Singer.

This past weekend, Eva confirmed to IESB that her shoot will be in March and will last for approximately three weeks. This matches reports that indicate the farm scenes will be shot first out in rural New South Wales before moving back to the Fox Studio complex in mid-late March.

More surprisingly she also acknowledged that she is playing a widow - as the storyline continues from where "Superman 2" left off, her character will be following the subplot that the previous two films left off on. She also mentioned that she is trying to convince Singer to let Superman take Ma Kent flying in the film.

Meanwhile, Bollyvista indicates that 'Kumar' himself - comedic actor Kal Penn has landed a role in the superhero production. What role specifically is unknown

The veteran actress has agreed to make an appearance - playing a "small but important" part - in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns", according to Superman-v.com.

Neill also had a cameo in the original "Superman" movie, playing Lois Lane's mother.

Meantime, the same site reports on some of the effects being used for the large-scale pic, adding that the film may well shoot some additional photography in L.A after the Aussie stayover.<hr></blockquote>

The ever-changing "Superman" subtitle machine just got cranked back into action.

Something interesting from a reliable chap at Sydney's Fox Studios this weekend.

"Everything slapped about saying 'Superman Returns' has been taken down, and in it's place, the new title 'Superman : The Red Sun'. You've probably heard it before, but it looks like this could be the title. We're being told that anyway".

I recall the 'Red Sun' title being tossed about before, so that's interesting. Still, wouldn't put much stock in the title until the studio has their final post-edit say.

Singer revealed that all of the main roles have been cast save for a "female accomplice for Lex Luthor." (Might this have been the role that Famke Janssen was reportedly up for?) Singer also added that the story, which stays within the continuity established by the previous films, has Clark Kent/Superman absent from Metropolis from "between four and five years" but the director would not say how or why.

Now please take the following with a huge grain of salt (one big enough to choke on) but a poster at Superhero Hype claims, via an acquaintance who allegedly knows people at Warner Brothers "public affairs," that the studio is poised to dump Brandon Routh in favor of Smallville star Tom Welling because "the WB is well aware of the fans disappointment in Routh."

The scooper also claims "that a HUGE board meeting is scheduled this week and even though Superman Returns starts 'production' in less than two weeks, that there is still a chance that Welling could be signed on as the star. ... Take this for what its worth everyone, something inside of me says that there is at least a 50% if not 60% chance that this is REAL news."

Needless to say, most of SHH's posters disbelieve the claimant. Early on during production of Singer's X-Men there was talk of dumping Hugh Jackman and recasting the part of Wolverine but Jackman ended up finding his character and stealing the movie.

A mí también me gustaría que fuera Tom Welling, pero supongo que eso acabaría con la serie. Lo lógico sería que acabará la serie y continuara con la película, es decir, que la última temporada de Smallville acabe ya con Superman y eso ya enlace con la peli.
