Declaraciones de Synger en una conferencia en la Universidad de NY:

-La película no será un remake sino una secuela de las anteriores (al menos de las dos primeras) y habrá referencias a ellas.

-El orígen se recordará en flashbacks intercalados.

-Se busca un tono mítico similar al de Donner más que uno introspectivo.

-El look de Superman será tradicional.

-Caviezel no será Superman porque buscan a un desconocido de 25-30 años. Hay más de 10 oficinas en todo el mundo a cargo de la busqueda.

-En Noviembre se trasladará el equipo a Sidney y en Marzo de 2005 dará comienzo el rodaje.

Actor Christopher Showerman, best known as vine-swinging 'George' in Disney's "George of the Jungle 2", is the latest actor to appear before the "Superman" casting crew. As previously reported, the actors are all reading scenes for Dick Donner's original "Superman" movie.

Showerman, who recently wrapped the thriller "Sea of Fear, is a self-confessed fan of the "Superman" series, and is reportedly delighted to atleast be considered for the role.

One thing's for sure the young actor definitely has the right look, and obviously attitude - being a fan and all - for the role of the Caped Wonder.

Other actors who are rumoured to have tested for the role recently, include Anson Mount ["The Mountain"] and Mike O'Hearn ["World's Finest"], with bigger names like Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Costner, whispered to be in talks for the weighty support roles.<hr></blockquote>

I know what you're thinking. It's been almost two days without a SUPERMAN rumor. Just as I was going into withdrawal, though, a fresh one recently popped up. Whew! A scooper sent Latino Review news that Steve Martin may be up for the role of Perry White, Superman's boss at the newspaper, The Daily Planet, where Superman works incognito as Clark Kent. Apparently, Martin made an appearance at a theater in Palo Alto where a play he's written was being performed but had to leave early as he had an appointment with Bryan Singer, presumably to discuss the Perry role and not to play Magic: The Gathering and trade LORD OF THE RINGS action figures. I think Martin could work as Perry White but, of course, it's just a rumor and could be debunked once an official casting announcement is made. In the meantime, we'll have to wait at least a few hours before another rumor surfaces. I know, I know, it's like nobody even cares about such a high profile project. Crazy.<hr></blockquote>

In case you hadn't noticed, there's been a few SUPERMAN rumors floating around. No more of that today. Capone over at Ain't It Cool News recently sat down with the man behind it all Bryan Singer while Singer was at the Chicago International Film Festival promoting a tv show he's executive producing for Fox (which sounds pretty cool) and set the record straight on some of the more prominent rumors flying around the information superhighway (how come no one uses that anymore?). Here's an excerpt:

Capone: Where do you stand right with casting SUPERMAN? Is it really going to be called SUPERMAN RETURNS?
B.S.[Bryan Singer]: That's strictly a working title. But it is a return story. It puts the first films in a kind of vague history. So what it doesn't do is tread over the 1978 Richard Donner film, it doesn't tread over "Smallville." It elaborates on the existence of Superman in the world in a history. He's out of the culture and then he returns.


Capone: Will you be using footage from the other films?
B.S.: (Long pause) It's possible. There's an introduction sequence that may or may not involve something like that, but not in the way you might be thinking.


Capone: Is there any truth to the reports that you have a deadline to lock in the main cast or Warner Bros. will step in a do it for you?
B.S.: No, that's absurd. I read that too and think it's just bizarre about James Caviezel, who's a wonderful actor. But, no, I'm committed to casting an unknown.


Capone: So asking you what that unknown might be would be pointless, because we probably would not have heard of this person, right?
B.S.: Right.<hr></blockquote>

It appeals to me a great deal, I haven't seen the script but I do like to play iconic characters, I see the role of Superman as a big responsibility and see it almost as a calling"

Después de meses de rumores y especulaciones ya tenemos al actor que definitivamente hará de Superman:

Brandon James Routh.











Ya había salido previamente en las quinielas y de hecho se pueden ver fotos suyas en páginas anteriores de este post.

Tiene 25 años y es sólo relativamente desconocido ya que ha hecho apariciones en Caso Abierto, Las Pavas Gilmore, Will & Grace y el culebrón One life to Live.

Parece confirmarse también que Jimmy Olsen será Topher Grace:



Y Mischa Barton (The O.C.) será Lois Lane:



Se sabe, además, que el argumento empieza con el regreso de un Superman que lleva seis años desaparecido y que se mantendrá la continuidad con las anteriores películas en el look de Krypton y la Fortaleza de la Soledad.

Es que un domingo por la mañana es mu mala hora pa postear tio,y el cruce de posts no ayuda precisamente!!!

Volviendo al tema del Routh este...pues habra que verle caracterizado para la pelicula y eso,pero en principio no me convence demasiado el casting. Tampoco es un horror, pero también podría haber sido mejor. Y la que hace de Lois Lane lo mismo,habra que verla con el peinado de Lois, pero asi a vote pronto tampoco me entusiasma. Aunque de todas formas Synger tiene mi voto de confianza a pesar de todo. veremso que pasa

Esta claro que pudiesen a quien pusiesen de superman, no nos iba a cuadrar mucho, habra que esperar a que la pelicula este acabada, pero, igual que puede ser un exito, tambien puede ser un grandisimo fracaso, veo a todos demasido jovenes y cortados por el mismo patron de serie juvenil.

A mi este no me acaba de convencer. La verdad es que entre los muchos candidatos que se barajaban se me ocurren unos cuantos mejores. Vale que este es grande y tal y que metiendolo en un gimnasio y poniendole musculos en su sitio mejorara. Pero esa no es la cara... Para este me quedaba mil veces antes con el Welling

Y a Lois tampoco la veo. Me gusta mucho mas Erica Sundance. Pero mucho mucho.

No se. Creo que Singer encontro a Hugh Jackman para Lobezno, y a todos nos gusto, pero ahora casi veria mejor a Jackman como un Superman con buena planta que a este. De todos modos habra que ver la caracterizacion.

Menudo casting más chungo.

Para empezar, parece directamente el cásting de una nueva serie sobre Superboy.

Y para seguir, Jimmy Olsen parece casi más mayor que Clark.
