Fusilo aquí unos datos publicados por MovieMan89 en los foros BOM: son las posiciones más altas de las películas de Star Wars en el ranking absoluto histórico norteamericano (NO ajustado, sino el normal). Obviamente las obtuvieron en el momento de su estreno, salvo el Episodio IV que fue #1 en 1977-78 y en 1997!

Leyendo este artículo sobre el Episodio IV y Phil Tippett https://web.archive.org/web/20080606...602/index.html, he conocido nuevos datos de como fue el reclutamiento para la futura Industrial Light & Magic.
Según recuerda Phil Tippett, conoció a Dennis Muren y este le habló de que había sido reclutado por Richard Edlund (FX supervisor de las 3 películas de SW + El Arca perdida, pero de los primeros en abandonar la ILM; Edlund y Muren habían coincidido en la marina) para una película dirigida por George Lucas.
Edlund reclcutó a Muren, Muren a Ralston y parece ser que también a Tippett.
Que tremendo que todo ese reclutamiento de artistas visuales se convirtiera en casi 20 años de dominio en los Oscar a los mejores FX (entre Muren-Edlund-Ralston y otros, todo en ILM claro), que no quiere decir nada concreto, pero si nos sirve como alcance de las dimensiones de la ILM tras Star Wars.
Si tenemos en cuenta que los ex-ILM Scott Ross y Ken Ralston terminaron como jefazos de Digital Domain (fundada por Ross, James Cameron y Stan Winston) y Sony Imageworks, aún se expande más la influencia de la empresa de Lucas. Es más, el jefazo de Weta Digital, Joe Letteri, llegó a Nueva Zelanda procedente de la ILM.

While the filming of the hotly anticipated sequel at Pinewood Studios was largely completed by the end of last year, this is the first time that the special effects of a Star Wars episode are being worked on outside California. Indeed, although ILM has offices in San Francisco, Singapore and Vancouver, the London outpost has only been up and running since October. Created for the first Star Wars film and now owned by Disney, which completed a £1.4bn takeover of Lucasfilm in 2012, ILM is the oldest and most successful visual effects company still around. It has pioneered the techniques that define the modern blockbuster — such as go motion animation, motion-controlled cameras and blue screen — through films such as The Abyss, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park.

El personaje bebe hasta ahogarse del slapstick y las comedias silentes (hay referencias inobviables a Seven Chances (1925), The Navigator (1924) o Girl Shy (1924) entre otras, lo que imbrica con Goofy, claro.

Yo sí que lo he pensado alguna vez, lo que pasa es que a mí este "Goofy" me sobraba en una película de Star Wars. Resulta un alivio cómico con demasiada presencia, y además no funciona la comedia, así que básicamente estorba mucho.
