According to The Hollywood Reporter, composer Shirley Walker, who recently wrapped up work on the music for MGM/Dimension's upcoming BLACK CHRISTMAS remake, died Wednesday in Reno, Nevada from complications of a stroke at the age of 61. A favorite of CHRISTMAS filmmaking team Glen Morgan and James Wong, she scored all three movies in the FINAL DESTINATION franchise they launched, along with the duo's WILLARD. After entering the cinema scene following a career as a piano soloist, Walker found early work with Charles Band on GHOULIES and THE DUNGEONMASTER, and her subsequent credits include John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM L.A. and MEMOIRS OF THE INVISIBLE MAN, numerous animated comics-based TV series (BATMAN, which won her a Daytime Emmy, SPAWN, etc.) and orchestrating and/or conducting for NIGHTBREED, ARACHNOPHOBIA, CHILD'S PLAY 2 and many others. CHRISTMAS hits theaters December 22; you can read more about Walker and her career here.
