Quote:
Tom Cruise spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his two upcoming projects, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 and WAR OF THE WORLDS. While most of what he said about WORLDS was kinda static - "It's going to be exciting, it's going to be really scary, and it's going to maintain the tone of H.G. Wells' book" - he had some interesting tidbits on M:I3. First off, he hinted that co-stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Scarlett Johansson and Kenneth Branagh might not stick around. Of the cast he said, "it's just me" and that while he'd love to work with the trio, he'd wait to see what happens to the story. "You have to start with the director and see where he's going to take us," Cruise explains. The actors are up in the air and the plot appears to be as well. There's no telling whether the existing script will remain the same or see sizable changes in the hands of director JJ Abrams. "We don't know yet," said Cruise said of any changes. "We're just now talking about story. But it's J.J. Abrams' 'Mission: Impossible' that I'm interested in." Abrams is the third director attached to M:I3 after David Fincher and Joe Carnahan. Filming on the final installment in the planned MISSION trilogy is scheduled to begin next June with Cruise and Spielberg taking on WORLDS this November.
