We've talked a lot about Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo here in the past - check his Oscar nominated 7:35 In The Morning here, and his most recent short Choque here - but what can we say ... we like the guy a lot. Thus I'm more than a little excited about this ...
Vigalondo has been prepping his debut feature for quite a while now and financing has just come together courtesy of Scott Free. You know ... a little company run by a couple guys you may have heard of. Tony and Ridley Scott. So, suddenly Vigalondo has gone from being a little cult figure to being someone with some serious Hollywood money behind him. Nice.
The film is titled Time Crimes and will shoot this summer in northern Spain. Shooting will start in July, though
it hasn't yet been decided whether the film will be in Spanish or English. Vigalondo's being coy with details but
he says it's an uncommon genre film that blends the "sexual tension of the dirty films of Brian de Palma and the crazyness of Stanislaw Lem sci-fi."
