Universal Pictures Japan have announced the Region 2 Japanese DVD release of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1 for 16th April 2004. Arriving in both standard (3,800 Yen) and Premium Box (7,600 Yen) editions this release is of most interest to fans due to the 'uncut' nature of the Japanese edit of the film, which is said to be more violently explicit than the version seen by Western viewers.
Also of interest to the fans is the typically outlandish Limited Edition Premium Box version which features all manner of goodies exclusive to the set including a 1/10 scale "Hattori Hanzo" sword, a Kubrick Murder Bride doll (we think!), an "Okinawa" T-shirt and a 24-page colour booklet.
The actual DVD will offer the following features including most importantly English subtitles as the film does feature Japanese dialogue...
* Anamorphic Widescreen
* English DD5.1 and DTS Surround
* Japanese DD5.1 Surround
* English and Japanese subtitles
* Behind-the-scenes making-of on the battle sequences
* Animated sequence making-of (approx 25mins)
