When you place an order with Amazon.com or on Amazon Marketplace, we
contact your credit card's issuing bank to confirm that your credit
card has a valid number, and has not been reported as lost or stolen.
This is communicated via a full authorization for the amount of the
purchase. However, we do not actually proceed with the charge.
This is simply one of the security measures we use to protect our
customers.
Please rest assured that you have not been charged for this order.
Most likely, your bank is holding the extra authorization on your
card. Some banks have been known to hold these authorizations for 7-
10 business days. You will need to contact your bank if you wish to
have this authorization removed.
If your bank requires further assistance from us, we will work with
your bank to resolve this matter as quickly as possible. Please
click the link at the end of this message and let us know the name
of the issuing bank and the bank phone number that appears on the
back of your credit card.
Further, if you used a debit card for this order and have incurred
any overdraft fees or service charges as a result of these
authorization requests, our accounting department will reimburse
you if we determine that these charges were the result of our error.
Please fax your request to us at 304-781-4960, and include the
following information:
- your name and e-mail address
- the order number in question
- a copy of the bank statement that shows the overdraft charge
(not the notice of the overdraft, but the monthly statement)
