I'll watch pretty much anything Nicolas Cage is in. In fact, I'll watch it multiple times. Yes, even CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN. Three times. To be honest, though, the multiple viewings of that had to do more with Penelope Cruz than Cage. So, I was psyched when he had a chat with Empire and talked a little bit about GHOST RIDER, the comic book property he's been circling for quite a long time. GHOST RIDER tells the story of Johnny Blaze, a flame skulled demon who uses his hell-given powers to dish out a grand class can of whup ass on the baddies. Being quite the comic aficionado himself, Cage was very vocal about how he saw the character, mentioning "…obviously the movie should be fun and it has to have humour but if you think about a superhero who’s using the powers of hell for good…I mean, that is a very profound, complicated concept for a superhero." Of course, when asked about the parallels with the recently released HELLBOY, he mentioned "Hellboy is a later character…Ghost Rider's been cursed by the devil but he’s not going to let the devil win. He sold his soul out of love, he was trying to save his father’s life…" He also talked a little bit about the CGI work that could be involved. Check out the rest of the interview HERE. Cage can next be seen in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced NATIONAL TREASURE.
