Uff, con lo que me gustó "La casa de los 1000 cadáveres" (he hablado de ella en el post "Pack terror DeAPlaneta"), estoy deseando que llegue aquí esta segunda parte. La ponen como la mejor secuela del cine de terror

In my movie going experiences there have been few films that I would classify as flawless, ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ is one of those films. From start to finish this movie held my attention and didn’t let go. This movie isn’t so much a sequel as it is a finale to the saga of the Firefly family and it works on every level. As horror fans we’re used to completely pedestrian sequels that rehash the original story; a new group of teenagers, same local, same M.O., same killings, etc., this however is one that bests the original and that my friends is no small task. It’s a rarity to see a sequel that goes above and beyond what you saw in the first, especially when you’re talking about any thing with a cult like status, really the only ones I can think of off hand are ‘Empire Strikes Back’ or ‘Wrath of Kahn’. I’m going to try and refrain from any major spoilers out of respect for what will go down as the greatest sequel in horror movie history and the man who directed it, Rob Zombie.

We start of strong, instant action, not something we’re used to in horror films but it’s not the kind of action you expect in a horror film, we’re talking major gunfight. It’s brilliantly shot, and believe me it will have you pumped and ready for the rest of the film. We are introduced to the new Mother Firefly (Leslie Easterbrook) who does a wonderful job filling the shoes of Karen Black, so well that after you first notice it’s a different actress you can’t tell. This sequences also introduces us to Sheriff John Wydell (William Forsythe) and if you thought that Tom Sizemore played a psycho-cop in Natural Born Killers wait till you see the slow meltdown of Sheriff Wydell from line walking cop to complete nut-job, believe me you will love every sadistic minute. The bulk of the story follows Captain Spalding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sherri Moon Zombie) as they’re on the lamb from the cops; this is the meat and potatoes of the movie and frankly is the perfect continuation of the storyline. Sure there will be people who do not accept the change, that it isn’t a rehash of Corpses, but those people wouldn’t know a good movie if it bit them on the ass.

We meet some other new characters this time round, we have Captain Spalding’s brother Charlie Altamont (played brilliantly by Ken Foree) and his side-kick Clevon (played by the always great to see Michael Barryman), and a pair of bounty hunters (one played by Diamond Dallas Page, and the other Danny Trejo). We also have some great cameos, P.J. Soles, Brian Posehn and Geoffrey Lewis to name a few. All of these people put in great and entertaining performances regardless of how much or how little screen time they have. Each character has on screen presence and you all at once feel for them just as much as you can’t wait to see how they’re going to get it in the end. The dynamic between the leads adds to everything that makes this movie a standout from all others, you care what’s going to happen to them you want to see more of them. Bill Moseley is particularly brutal as Otis and Sid Haig is always incredible as Captain Spalding. The stand out performance for me though was Sherri Moon, she plays a much more grounded Baby and shows real range, going from the bubbly child like Baby, to being the most sadistic woman on the planet, to being scared and in a panic, emotions you’re not used to seeing from the killers in horror films and she shows them all and is brilliant, brutal, and beautiful in the process.

The ending of this movie is perfect, after seeing this ending I couldn’t think of it ending any other way. This is how it had to end for these characters, and it’s a scene of beauty. Zombie hits it out of the park with this ending; it’s almost enough to reduce one to tears watching it. I won’t tell you how or what happens, but it is gorgeous and shouldn’t have a millisecond shaved off of it. I put this ending up there as one of the greatest endings in film history. On the technical side, the film, even in it’s rough state, is flawless. I saw not one thing wrong with this film, from the pacing down to the cuts from scene to scene, this movie flowed like no other horror film I’ve seen in years.

Zombie has shown immense growth in his directing style and in my opinion is set to become one of the greatest horror directors ever, he’s worked his way into the ranks of Carpenter, Craven, and Hooper in my book and I can’t wait for him to direct more. I knew early on when I first discovered White Zombie and I saw Rob running around the stage wearing a denim vest with a giant Urutsokidoji (Legend of the Overfiend) patch on his back and hearing samples of it all over La Sexorcisto that he was my kind of guy and when Corpses was first announced I knew I could trust him. I know now that he is quite possibly the only director I can trust to make good, balls to the walls horror. It’s a shame that horror is overlooked for awards, because Zombie deserves some kind of award for making a horror film that bucks commercial sensibilities, he could easily have loaded it with big name stars this time round and kept it to horror fan favorites and nobody’s. He deserves something for the artistry and integrity he brings back to a genre that has sold it self out for big box office teenybopper appeal. He was in the theater as we were watching and I so wanted to thank him, so if by chance he were to read this I would like to thank Rob for bringing horror back to it’s roots.<hr></blockquote>

Aquí tenéis los primeros 10 minutos de la peli en exclusivamedia.filmforce.ign.com/media/685/685147/vids_1.html . Os adjunto un poster más chulo, en mi humilde opinión, que los mostrados hasta la fecha.

Como siempre, estos teaser posters se salen. Mil vueltas le dan a los finales.

Por cierto, alguien tiene por ahi ese cartel de la última cena?


Sobre la película... pues a ver. Yo también soy fan de la casa de los 1000 cadáveres, pero creo que no somos muchos. En la clausura de la semana de terror de Donosti en la que la estrenaron a la gente no le gustó y hubo muchos pitidos. Hasta me daba a mi vergüenza decir que a mi sí me gustó delante de mis amigos

Pero sinceramente, pese a las pésimas críticas, creo que es una película que tiene algo.

A mi tambien me gusta la primera parte... ¿esta cuando se estrena?

Al menos era mucho más refinada (no sé si es el adjetivo más apropiado je je ) ) que tanta bazofia del género que parece prefabricada. Detrás de esa profunda estilización que mostraba Zombie en sus imágenes intuyo que hay mucho más cariño y personalidad que en productos como "La Morada del Miedo" o "Boogeyman", lo cual ya es para empezar como mínimo respetable. Pienso que "La casa de los 1000 cadáveres" era una película irregular (sin duda a causa, al menos en parte, de las múltiples interferencias creativas que padeció) pero para nada un título que mereciese tal maltrato.

¿esta cuando se estrena?

En Inglaterra el 5 de Agosto por si te apete una escapadita, aunque me pregunto si tal como son los ingleses sufrirá algún tipo de censura.

Aparte toda esa ambientación, esa gasolinera convertido en todo un museo de cine serie B, ese pasaje del terror que al final de la película acaba convertido en realidad...

Para mi La casa de los 1000 Cadaveres es un cruce entre La Matanza de Texas y Scooby Doo.

No es tan descabellado.
Coge a la pandilla de Scooby Doo, piérdelos en la américa profunda en un parque de atracciones y haz que sean despedazados por una familia de asesinos psicópatas.

Ya hombre, lo que pasa es que me hizo bastante gracia esa relación DD

indudablemente uno de mis estrenos más esperados del año. confio ciegamente en rob zombie, es un tio que siempre ha demostrado tener un amplio conocimiento sobre el tema serie b y un gusto exquisito. no fallará, seguro.

Y por suerte para todos nosotros también se dedica al cine. Este tío nos va a regalar buenos momentos de genuino cine.

Me alegra ver que hay más fans del sr.Zombie y confían ciegamente en él. Lamentablemente no puede estar en la música y el cine a la vez, pero tiene anunciados un directo y un disco nuevo :amor

Lions Gate Home Entertainment will release the film in separate R-rated and unrated editions, each featuring audio commentary by Zombie and actors Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley. Other bonus materials will include deleted scenes, footage from "The Morris Green Show" and "Captain Spaulding's Monkey Fried Chicken" TV commercial (both seen in the film), Otis's "Home Movie," a "Captain Spaulding Christmas" spot, blooper reel and music videos. The unrated disc also will feature a feature-length making-of documentary detailing the film's production.

A esto sumarle el documental de 150 minutos en la unrated.

Pero sinceramente, pese a las pésimas críticas, creo que es una película que tiene algo.

A mi también me parece un buen film, muy bien rodado , exagerado, pero dotado de una mala leche, de un erotismo y de un aire de gran guiñol que apenas existe en el cine de terror americano de los últimos años, espero esta secuela con interés

Buena noticia, cada vez hay mas cosas que me interesan este año, la de Cronenberg, la de McKean y Gaiman (Mirrormask), Corpse Bride, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance y ahora The Devil´s Reject.

A mi La Casa de los 1000 Cadaveres me gustó, aún siendo una película que peca de inexperiencia, pero es muy divertida y atípica dentro del panorama actual. Rob Zombie le echa un par de huevos, y a dia de hoy, prefiero que haga pelis como ésta a discos.
