Tema: Aqualung (Jethro Tull): Edición 40 Aniversario

Siguiendo la estela de las remasterizaciones de Pink Floyd y sus Immersions Boxset, el próximo 31 de octubre saldrá la caja conmemorativa ddel 40 aniversario de uno de los discos fundamentales de los 70: Aqualung, del grupo de Ian Anderson Jethro Tull. Éstas son las especificaciones:

We all know that the 40th Anniversary for the 1971 Jethro Tull classic, Aqualung, is this year. We especially know that Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree has involved himself in the task of “recreating” the best-selling legendary album. He ‘leaked’ this info after Ian Anderson began openly discussing the album remaster here and there. But the news of the planned 40th Anniversary set was largely speculation…until recently. I’ve uncovered the news of what is contained in what will be referred to as the Collector’s Edition Box.

The Collector’s Edition Box is a monstrosity. Like the upcoming collection being pieced together for The Who’s Quadrophenia, this Box will come with a ton of interesting material. And while the assembly of this monstrous – and monstrously priced – Box may have angered some fans, they should be interested to know that a much cheaper 2CD digipak with a 36-page booklet to commemorate the Aqualung anniversary is planned for release as well.

The Collector’s Edition Box, and the 2CD digipak have been scheduled to arrive in the UK (this is an import title, thus far) on October 31, and can be pre-ordered via Amazon UK. The Us import release date is November 8 (it seems, because Amazon US has botched the date listing it as 2010). However, I have seen November 1 too. The date will straighten itself out. What you want are the details. I’m providing a cut’n'paste list of the good stuff because it’s an awful lot to type. I hope you’ll forgive as I have already forgiven myself.

The new rumor is that Jethro Tull will issue a 40th Anniversary Edition in 2012 for their Thick As A Brick classic originally released in 1972.

Un disco fundamental, el más conocido aunque para mí no el mejor de Jethro Tull.

Yo ya me pillé en su momento el CD del 25º Aniversario, y además el vinilo de 200gramos de CLASSIC RECORDS.; así que aunque parezca que estoy servido, me gustaría catar esa masterización a 96Khz y 24 bits.

Revisa la discografía de Tull please y sus directos actuales. Sin ir más lejos hace 3 años en Alcorcón. Recomiendo el artículo de este mes de la sensacional revista This is Rock.

Hola parece que mis palabras no han sido muy acertadas pero a mi parecer grupos como los tull yes y toda los llamados progresivos me parecen aburridos muy de los setenta por supuesto porque son de esa epoca. De los mismos anos son curtis.moondance.berlin.blood on the tracks.paris 1919.pink moon y me parecen mucho mas actuales e interesantes.por citar algunos

He intentado descifrar los grupos o discos que mencionas en plan telegrama y que comentas que no suenan a "antiguo". Imagino que estabas hablando de Blood on the tracks, de Dylan; de Moondance, de Van Morrison; de Paris 1919, de John Cale; de Dark side of the moon, de Pink Floyd; y se me escapa qué es Curtis. Bueno, creo que ninguno de ellos tiene nada que ver con el rock progresivo o similares, o con grupos como Jethro Tull, Yes, Tangerine Dream o los mismos Genesis de Peter Gabriel; son productos muy distintos y en la mayoría de los casos se trata de obras maestras imperecederas, como también son Aqualung o Thick as a brick. ¿Después de escuchar Locomotive Breath alguien puede escribir que suena rancia?

perdonad si, es que cuando escribo desde el movil, es un coñazo. hablaba de curtis, el debut de curtis mayfield en solitario disco totalmente recomendabley me referia al pink moon de nick drake por citar algunos, desde luego el rock sinfonico o progresivo no es lo mio, no digo que sean malas obras porque ademas de ser injusto no seria cierto, pero si tengo que reconocer que toda esa etapa musical no me despierta mucha pasion. De todas maneras de todos los sinfonicos el que mas me gusta es jethro tull con thick as a brick. gracias.
