Ok, first thing first - the print Nolan presented does have a tendency towards warm color gamma. It does look yellowish at times (dawn of man sequence, Pan Am interiors), but not too distracting, at least to my eye.
Exteriors, all the space shots do look stunning however.
Some scenes, especially inside Discovery look somewhat bluish. Stars in space have also blue glow.
Blacks are raised the way Nolan loves it, but I suppose they should be for projecting in the cinema?
Not sure, if you can tinker with the print at this stage (sorry if that sounds dumb), but I saw no signs of DNR, grain is present, but far from being distracting.
I noticed some minor haloing and edge enhancement in Discovery interior in the intro scenes- where Frank is running and camera is following him. But then, like I said, I don’t know, if it’s Nolan or it was there from the start.
Weirdly, this print had a lot of scratches, hairs, black dots, white specs, even yellow blobs and black vertical lines at times, and seemed like there must be a lot of cleaning applied before you can press it onto UHD. That was the weirdest part for me. I mean, they’re not going to leave it like that for a commercial release? Or is Nolan planing a grindhouse release?
Anyway, despite all that, it seemed like a very filmic presentation. Colors looked mostly great - yellowish tint is there, but that’s a matter of taste, I suppose, and it didn’t bother me a lot.
